Adding a New Client - Step by Step
Adding a new client to CAC CareNet requires several steps but is an easy process! To enter a new client follow the steps below:
1. When adding a new client first click Clients tab.
2. Once the page reloads you will be on the client manager page. From here, press the 'Add New' button.
3. After pressing your page will reload to the client viewer. This is CareNet's built in system to ensure client profiles are not duplicated. Simply enter in the name of your new client and press the search button.
4. If after pressing the search button no results appear, press the 'Add New Client' button to continue with the intake process. (See fig. 1)
Note: If you get results for the client you've just searched for
do not press the add new client button. This means that the name you've entered
is already in the system. While names will cross over occasionally, always press the 'View Profile' button and check out that profile. The most common scenario will be a client that was seen in the past is now coming in for new services. For this you will want to
create a new account not create a new client profile. For more information on creating a new account for a client
press here. (see fig. 2)

5. Once you've loaded up the intake screen fill in as much information as you can. There are fields within the intake screen that contribute to reporting, so at the very least try and fill in those fields (
press here to view what fields contribute) and the required fields.
Tip: Any fields with a Red header are required fields - make sure and fill those out!
6. Directly below the main client info you will see an option to create associated person(s). The associated person(s) section is used to log information for people who are closely associated with the primary client (e.g. mom, dad, bother, sister, a related co-victim, perpetrator) this section is not for people who are loosely associated (e.g. non-related co-victims with the same perpetrator). The reason you would not want to add loosely associated people to the primary client is because the associated person(s) is essentially a contact card for that specific client. Additionally, you will want to track individual services separately, not on the same profile. You can add in as many associated person(s) to a profile as you'd like.
To create an associated person(s) press the link person button.
7. After pressing you will get the person viewer popup once again. In similar fashion to step 3 the person viewer will search through your database to find any occurrences of the name you've entered. If none appear add the new person. If you get a result, and it's the person you want to add (e.g. a known perpetrator), press the Link Person button (see fig. 4).

8. After you've filled in all the required information to add the new client profile press the 'Save' button in the bottom left hand corner.
Tip: Did you accidentally add in an extra associated person you'd like to remove or completely delete the profile you've started working on? Simply hit the remove person or delete client account button the right hand side.
Note:
Use person/client deletion cautiously. After a person/profile has been removed it can be recovered, but it is not a quick process to recover. If a profile has been deleted and needs to be recovered please submit a support ticket. (To learn how to submit a ticket,
press here).
9. After the page reloads you will be directed to your newly added client profile! There is one more important step to address before adding in new information. That is the AFR button in the upper right corner.
10. AFR stands for Activated for Reporting. This is the trigger within CareNet to either include or exclude a client from reporting. For ease, make sure activating your client for reporting is a step in your client intake. This will save you time later from hunting down clients who are missing the AFR. To activate AFR visit the AFR tab, enter in a start date, press activate, and then save.
