Creating a Referral - Step by Step

Creating a Referral - Step by Step

Within CAC CareNet we offer the ability to create client referrals, law enforcement referrals, child protective services referrals, or all in a combined referral. The referral system within CAC CareNet is controlled through the portal (to learn more about setting up a portal user please click here). The intended use of the referral system is to give outside partners the ability to submit a referral to your database, without giving them access to the full version of CareNet. A referral (or portal) user, only has the ability to submit information to your database.  To create and submit a referral please follow the steps below:

Step 1: Login to your database and click the 'My Referrals' button.
Note: You will need to be setup as a portal user to continue with this guide. If you're not a portal user, please reach out to your local administrator for more information.

Step 2: Once on the referrals page, you will see the following sections:
  1. Pressing this button will allow you to create a new referral.
  2. Start/End dates: Allows you to setup a search to find referrals in a specific date range.
  3. Filters the status of referrals.
  4. Within this table you will see results based upon your search.

Step 3: After pressing the 'New Referral' button you'll first be presented with the client information you're attempting to submit. This includes the primary client info (A), and any associated persons (B). To add in allegation information press the 'Add Allegation' (C) button.
Tip: If you don't need to enter any case data, feel free to save or submit this referral.

Step 4: After pressing the add allegation button you'll first see the presenting allegation information (A). Below you'll see buttons for 'Add CPS' (A) and 'Add LE' (B).

Step 5: After pressing either the CPS, LE, or both, you'll have the ability to log relevant information in those sections. After filling in your referral you can either save or submit. If you save a referral you can come back to it later to add more information before submitting.
