Referral & Video User Setup (Portal) - Step by Step
The new portal option within CareNet allows you to have more customization over referral users, video referrals and dual access to CareNet. Specifically, when a portal user is setup you can:
- Designate a user as only referral
- Designate a user to only be able to view shared videos
- Designate a user to have dual access
- Give access to both referrals, videos, and CareNet.
To learn more about portal users and how to set them up please follow along below:
Creating a Portal User
Step 1. Expand the Personnel tab and press the 'Add Person button'.
Step 2. After your page reloads, fill in all the required information and check the 'Is User' box. Then, fill in a username, password and select a security group you'd like the personnel added to. Finally press the save button.
Note: Within the security group drop down you will find an option for 'Referral User'. If this personnel is going to be a referral user only, select that option. If this user will have dual access (e.g., to access all of CareNet & fill out referrals) select an appropriate security group from the list. To learn more about creating security groups please

Step 3. After your page reloads you will now have a 'Portal' access button at the top of your page. On the portal screen you will have options for:
- Video Portal Access: This option allows this user to have videos shared with them. To learn about sharing videos please click here.
- Referral Portal Access: This option allows this user to submit either LE or CPS referrals to your database.
- CareNet Access: This option allows the user to have access to the full CareNet program (This will also enable a button next to the notification bell to flip between the portal and CareNet).
- Enable Portal Access: This will need to be selected to reveal the other access options.
Navigating the Portal
Once a portal user has been created there will be several components to pay attention to when logging in. In the example below the user has access to both video and referral portal access. As well as CareNet access.
- Dashboard (A): This tab is where all portal users will load into.
- My Videos (B): This tab will show any videos that have been shared with the portal user.
- My Referrals (C): This tab will take users to the referral screen, where they can fill in either LE or CPS referrals.
- Portal Button (D): This will allow portal users who have CareNet access to jump between the portal and the full database.
Note: For referral users created before CareNet's 2.26.1 release will automatically have access the the My Referrals section.
My Videos
Within the my videos tab video portal users will be able to interact with videos shared to them by a full CareNet user. Within this section a user can either view or download a video (depending on how the video was shared with them), and also see information about the video.
