Linking a Person in CAC CareNet

Linking a Person in CAC CareNet

Linking a new person (or associated person) in CAC CareNet is an easy process. Follow the steps below to learn more.

1. First get to the client you would like to add a linked person to. This can be done through searching for a client (via the left hand search option), or by visiting a client you've already been assigned to.

2. After reaching the client profile you would like to update simply press the 'Edit Account' button on the profile tab.
Tip: You can also access this screen by clicking on "Contact" then "Edit Comments"

3. You are now in the "Edit Client" window. This should look familiar to you if you have added new clients to CareNet. To link a person, click the "Link Person" button towards the bottom left corner.

4. After pressing the link person button the "Person Viewer" window will open. Similar to when you add a new client, CareNet requires you to search to make sure the person you are linking does not already exist before the "+Add New Person" button will become active

Enter the person you wish to link to the client's first name, last name and/or date of birth (DOB) in the corresponding text boxes, then click on "Search"
Note: You can enter any portion of the first or last name and CareNet will return results for any individual whose name includes the characters searched. You can also search only by first name, only by last name, or only by DOB

5. Your search will return all individuals whose name contains the characters you entered in your search. If your search did return the name of the person you wish to link to this client, click "Link Person" (A) in the row containing the name and/or date of birth of the person you wish to link

If your search DID NOT return the name of the person you wish to link to the client, click "+Add New Person" (B)
Tip: No results means the person you're trying to add has never been keyed in before.

6. You will now enter information in the "Associated Person(s)" screen. This is where you can designate whether a linked person is a co-victim or perpetrator in addition to assigning the relationship to the client.
Tip: If you check the box "Household Member" you will see the client's address will copy to the linked persons profile you are creating.

Reminder: Only fields in red are required, BUT we strongly recommend that you enter as much information as you possibly can when linking a new person. At some point, a linked person could become a client and this will help to ensure accuracy in reporting.

7. Once you have entered all information and checked appropriate boxes for all persons you wish to link to this client, click "Save"

8. You have now successfully linked person(s) to a client's account! To verify, click on the "Contact" tab in the client's profile.
