Resetting Passwords Remotely
Sometimes users may need assistance resetting their CAC CareNet passwords because they cannot reset them. In situations like this, a CAC CareNet Administrator or a CareNet Support Member can assist by resetting the password remotely.
Remote Password Reset by CAC CareNet Administrator
1. After logging into CAC CareNet, the CAC CareNet Administrator will navigate to the Personnel tab and then Dashboard.
Note: All CAC CareNet users should know who the CAC CareNet Administrators are for their agency.
2. Once on the personnel dashboard, either search for the person's profile by using the search section or simply select from the list on the right.
Note: If the profile you are looking for does not show up on the list, complete a search for the profile instead.
3. Once the personnel profile has been located, press the 'Reset Password" button.
Note: If the button is dark blue, an email is in the Personnel Profile. If the button is light blue, an email needs to be added to the Personnel Profile.
4. After the 'Reset Password' button is pressed, an email will be sent to the user containing a temporary password to access CAC CareNet and update their password.
Note: The email with the temporary password will expire in 30 minutes and require a new email to be sent after that time.
Remote Password Reset by Submitting a Help Desk Ticket
1. The user can click on the ? icon in the bottom left of the CAC CareNet login page to submit a Help Desk Ticket to CAC CareNet.
2. After going to the 'Support Requests' tab, enter the information to create a ticket (name, email address, subject, and description) and click 'Submit' to send.
3. Notify a CAC CareNet Administrator from your agency you have submitted a Help Desk Ticket and ask them to email
support@omstinc.com permission to access your agency's database.
Sample email:
CAC CareNet has permission to access our CAC CareNet system and reset the password for (person's name).
Note: To protect your agency's database and sensitive data, CAC CareNet requires written permission from a CAC CareNet Administrator to access an agency's database.
4. Once CAC CareNet receives permission, a CAC CareNet Support Member will reset the password triggering an email to be sent to the user with a temporary one.
Note: The email with the temporary password will expire in 30 minutes and require a new email to be sent after that time.
